Tahoe Flying Club – Lease Program v1

Picture
The club would make this plane available to its members for local and regional flights.  All of our flying members would be certificated pilots with the appropriate transition training and checkout in this actual aircraft by our club CFI.  They would be named on the insurance, treat the plane as if it were their own and abide by our currency and club requirements.

Many of our members have owned planes in the past and some have substantial experience and numerous ratings.  The club is focused on continuous education of pilots, and has an emphasis on safety.  Here is an overview of the lease program:

Club Responsibilities

  • Access-controlled hangar at KTRK
  • Commercial insurance for the full hull value and liability
  • Day to day operations and scheduling
  • Scheduling and coordination of unscheduled maintenance with Sierra Aero
  • Currency and training requirements for checkout and reviews
  • 100-hour inspections - scheduling and costs
  • 50-hour oil changes - scheduling and costs
  • Fuel Costs

Owner Responsibilities

  • Determine the hourly fee for usage of the plane based on the hobbs meter, paid monthly by the club.
  • Maintaining the airworthiness of the aircraft - registration, timely approval and payment of unscheduled maintenance or repairs, etc.
  • Managing reserves for scheduled maintenance (engine rebuild, avionics, etc)
  • Annual inspections

Benefits of Leasing to TFC

  • Defer the permanent decision of selling the aircraft
  • Lowers the cost of holding the plane as the economy improves
  • Prevents idle deterioration, and associated maintenance costs (seals, cylinder corrosion, etc)
  • Eliminates major fixed costs of ownership
  • Potential to create positive cashflow
